If you are an experienced entrepreneur, busines consultant or IT/tech specialist in Turkmenistan or abroad, you can become part of the first Startup Acceleration Program in Turkmenistan by volunteering as a Mentor for a young startup team. The program titled as Startup Ecosystem Creation (SEC) is run by the two USAID projects, FGI & EYFT, and the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan (http://startup.tyb.com.tm/).
For potential mentors, this is a great opportunity to give back, become a better leader, and refine your own skills and networks. As you know well, startup founders’ efficiency and product quality improve tremendously when they have a good mentor guiding their journey to market.
Your offer will be shared with around 50 semifinalist startups, and later you will get the profiles of those interested in your mentorship for your final selection of the lucky one. The mentorship will be conducted from August 15th until September 15th, as per your own flexible schedule and format.
You will also get a chance to attend an online mentorship and VC/angel investment experience sharing discussion on August 14th, joined by an angel investor from the United States.
We look forward to matching you with the startups and are excited to see the outcomes of this pioneer initiative in Turkmenistan!
What is SEC?
Six local training centers, consulting companies and recruitment agencies, aspiring to become business incubators/accelerators, jointly with the Union of Economists (UoE), the USAID Future Growth Initiative (FGI) and the USAID Enriching Youth for Tomorrow (EYFT) Project, launched test-run a three-month startup incubation/acceleration program during July-September 2020. The six companies, called as Mentor Companies (MC) as part of this project, selected a total of around 100 residents for a program which will consist of three stages:
- Academy (for 100 residents, July 2020)
- Acceleration (for 50 residents, August-September 2020)
- Demo Day (competition of 10-12 select startup pitches; the end of September 2020)
The Mentors’ Application Form is available at: https://forms.gle/vyXbDEEFRNhVcyFZA
Deadline for application is July 27, 2020, but applications made after this deadline will also be considered.
